I decided to go on vacation for spring break 2004. My friend had just got home from the war in Iraq. He doesn’t have much money so I put the vacation on my credit card. I booked the trip a week before leaving through Travelocity. I called Travelocity to confirm my reservations and had asked if a military ID was sufficient to board the flight. The lady stated this was sufficient and I requested an email regarding the information. We arrived at the airport one hour early for security purposes when we were informed that my friend’s forms of ID were not sufficient I called my dad and his mom and they scrambled to look for his birth certificate, but it was nowhere to be found because he had just traveled the world for the last 5 years. After arguing with management in the airport they still refused to allow my friend to board the flight so I decided to go alone hoping he would make other arrangements and find the proper documents. I arrived in Cancun, Mexico alone and to find out my luggage did not arrive with me. So I was alone in Mexico with no luggage. I went and filled out the forms for lost luggage and decided to go to my hotel. I was staying at the Royal Solaris and when I arrived they did not have a reservation for me. I was now alone in Mexico with no luggage and no room. I had all the confirmation papers so the tried to contact Travelocity for over 3 hours while they fed me alcohol. Travelocity failed to respond emails and phone calls so I was issued a bracelet to get something to eat and enjoy the amenities of the hotel. I had to buy the most embarrassing pair of shorts for $25, because I arrived in jeans. After eating and playing basketball for a few minutes, it was hot and I was drunk, I returned back to the hotel registration room to ask about my situation. At that time they told me to issue my credit card and I would get a room and it would be charged to Travelocity. At that point I did not care I just wanted a room, although I was alone and did not have any luggage. They gave me an upgraded room and my luggage arrived 8 hours later. My friend never made it and I made the best out of the situation as I could. I kayaked, wind surfed, got sun poison, very drunk, and hot pictures for IloveROADHEAD.com It ended up being a one in life time experience y yo tuve much diversion con mis amigos y todas las chicas.
